College Friends?

I'm curious for all of you current or past college students if you made new friends in college. I'm not talking about the people you talk to in class, or wave at on campus.

I was thinking today as I was leaving school that I haven't really made any friends while I've been at school. Sure, I've become buddies with people in my class and maybe get together for a study group but I never hang out with them outside of school. I suppose I could make an effort if I really wanted to, but to me it seems like a lost cause. I already have more friends than I have time to see. Why should I add more to the list?

Did you make friends in college? Did you keep them separate from your old pals?

I haven't really kept in touch with them, although lately on Facebook I've caught up with a few. The one friend I keep up with was someone I already kinda knew through Kimberly. I wish I had kept in touch with some of them, though....

I am still close with some of my college roommates, and my boyfriend and I were semi-friends (more that we ran in some of the same circles, had friends in common, and were the same major) during college, although didn't start dating until meeting up in a new city 4 years later. My boyfriend has loads of friends from college, most from his fraternity and some were roommates.

I'd say I have four close friends from college (my boyfriend, a college friend who lives in my city now, and two who live in NYC), plus other people I still keep in contact with through those close friends. My high school friends visited me a lot in college and I didn't keep them separate then, but as we all live all over the country now, there isn't much opportunity for my various groups of friends to mix.

I went away to school, so I had to make new friends, but it was hard! I transferred mid-year to a very traditional school and people already had their friend-cliques established & were not taking applications from transfer student thankyouverymuch! This turned out well though, as I bonded with several also-transfers who were feeling as left out as I was. We were all different and probably wouldn't have become friends if we'd had the choice, but I'm still in touch with both of them 12 years later, so.... :-)

Oh- btw, you're fabulous, thank you!!!! Hmm, you didn't steal my brain, did you??

I made some good friends in college -- one of my best friends was originally my neighbor and was my roommate for two years of school. I have more, closer friends from pre-college just because I now live closer to them and my college friends are all over the place geographically. But yes, I made some great friends in college.
