Pandora, my love

I just read an article about Pandora (an online radio that tailors the stations to your preferences)and am upset that it might be coming to an end. Stupid artists and their royalty rates! Most of the artists that I've discovered in the past year or so are as a result of Pandora.

Grey is the new Taupe

in decorating. I love a good grey on the walls and would love to try it. I've always been someone who thought that grey was just a boring bland color that just muted everything down. But I've since learned it is a great compliment to a bold color and really helps anchor it. I'm in love with this room, that was featured on d*s.


I even kind of like the thrown in animal print pillow! I've always hated animal print--because it can look tacky VERY quickly) But I think in this case it was done in a tasteful way and there's not too much of it. Also I would love to pair that green futon and giraffe pillow with a nice tan couch.

with a fabric designer. Her name is Amy Butler, and she makes cool patterns, too.

I was surfing a new blog favorite, called Design*Sponge. I was checking out the past DIYs and ran across amazing pillows done up in Amy Butler's really cool fabrics. Unfortunately, it seems as though our local Joann's Fabric doesn't carry Amy's beautiful prints. Lucky for me, while I was stalking another new favorite blog, The Lucky Nest and she was blogging about her new favorite pillows, covered in Amy Butler fabric. She found a great deal from etsy seller, Eden's Garden of Fabric where they are selling it for much cheaper than anywhere else I have been able to find it online. So I ordered me some Wallflower in sky blue and can't wait for it to come. I have no idea what I'm going to use it for, but projects have a way of falling into my lap..so I guess we'll see.

I also stumbled across the most amazing fabric that has mopeds on it. I'm in LOVE.

Pandora

Ahhh, Heaven. I'm in love.

With an online radio. Whoever invented it, I would love to thank, personally.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, you MUST go check it out. Pandora is an online radio that tailor's to YOUR likes and dislikes. All you have to do is register for a free account and then it will remember all of your personal stations. You can keep up to 100 stations. All you have to do to create a station is plug in the name of an artist or song, (i.e.) Death Cab for Cutie, and then it will create a station based upon the musical qualities found in Death Cab, thus creating a station of music that you will probably enjoy immensely.

In addition, you can even ask it why it chose a song. When I created a Death Cab station, the first song it played was "Mad World" by Gary Jules because of the "folk roots, acoustic rhythm piano, acoustic sonority, minor key tonality, and melodic songwriting." And if the station plays something you DON'T like, you can give the song a thumbs down and it will further change the station to fit your needs.

So I know I've been a little MIA lately, but I have been extremely busy with school as the term wraps up. It is the end of Dead Week, so I just have 3 finals to take and a paper to write and then I am officially done with my Sophomore year at SOU.

The thing that strikes me, is why are they all just standing around watching him have a freak out. The lade who got hurt by the computer monitor is even still in there even though there is an accessible door out of the room.

I can hardly contain myself

My Canon Rebel XT is at my house right now awaiting my arrival. Unfortunately I am stuck at school in Ashland until 4:00. Bah! Stupid school is always getting in the way of something!

Wreck This Journal

So I was browsing around Barnes & Noble's craft section today (one of my favorite pastimes) and I stumbled across this amazing journal! I've never seen anything like it. Basically it's premise is this: The most memorable creative moments are when you do something artistic against your better judgement. Each page in the journal has an instruction to carry out for that page. Some of them are traditional, funny, and downright wacky. For example, here are a few of the instructions:

1. Crack the spine of the book.
2. Document your dinner: Rub, smear, splatter your food. Use this page as a napkin.
3. Cover this page using only office supplies.
4. Tape journal closed and mail to yourself.
5. Drop journal from high place.
6. Go on a walk and drag journal on the ground.
7. Scribble wildly on this page using only borrowed pens. Document where you borrowed the pen from.

I love the idea of mailing the book to yourself. I think it would be even cooler to send it on a "chain" of sorts of friends and family and have them each complete their own page and sign the page, and then send it to the next person on the list, and eventually have it come back to me.

I seriously think that every single kid growing up should have a copy of this journal. It is a great way to teach yourself to think outside the box, and I can't wait to get started on mine!
