Tuition Hikes

SOU released it's prospective tuition hikes for this fall last week.  The normal rate increase is between 3 and 5 %.  This year, tuition will go up a whopping 7.5%!   Frankly, that sucks!  In the article in The Siskiyou SOU explained that there was a lot of confusion with the current plateau system (rates are higher for people taking less than 12 credits, and are discounted for credits over 12) and how to calculate just how much tuition would be.  So, SOU decided to go to a flat rate for credits (every credit will cost the same amount, it doesn't matter how many classes you are taking per term).  I say BOO!  I think that is their excuse to raise tuition more.  

I'm changing my profession!

Yup. I still haven't found a job. My account at WaMu is severely dwindling down to nothing. To top it off, I was denied unemployment insurance by the evil nice and unhelpful people at Oregon Unemployment. You see, apparently you can't go to school while collecting unemployment. So, I am considering something that I thought I would never do.

Yup, I'm joining the circus. I'm not sure what my talent will be, but I'm thinking that before you know it, I will be the most famous elephant rider trapezist lion tamer ticket collector you've seen on this side of the Mississippi. Wish me luck as I embark on my new journey!

It's official. I graduated!!
So, as everyone has been saying.....On to the real world!!

So, an update.

School is STILL evil, but, I see the light at the end of the tunnel. Exactly one more day of school, consisting of one math final, and a pointless class period of history, and a stupid 'farewell to seniors/end of the year/chance for teachers to talk' assembly.

only FIVE more days til Graduation!!

In other news, hmm...well there really isn't any.
Haha, actually last night Zach, Matt, Juanita and I drove out to Central Point after church to go to Sonic. However, when we got there, we realized there was a LONG line, and ended up eating at the BK down the street. Sooo, we drove all the way to CP for Burger King. Woot, Woot! But we definately had fun doing it. We drove on the freeway with the top down on my car. Matt said it felt like a 'vigorous head massage' in the back seat. Yeah, good times.

In relation to the whole one-word comment thing going around BEBO lately, I'd have to say that if I had to describe myself in one-word today it would be

EXHAUSTED

Yup, school is evil. That's about all I have to say right now. Or at least my english teacher is evil. For school, we had to choose a classic novel that portrays good vs. evil. Cindi and I decided to read "The Portrait of Dorian Gray" by Oscar Wilde. Doesn't sound too bad, right?
Not finished yet. Not only did we have to read the novel-which wouldn't be too bad at all- but we also had to annotate
Every. Single. Page. Thats Two-Hundred and Thirty pages of annotations! Now maybe that wouldn't be so bad if we were smart and didn't put it all off to the last minute, but Me? Plan ahead? HA! Guess what I was doing last night for hours and hours-the eve before the horrible thing was due I might add-? Hmm? You got it, I was reading. And reading, and reading some more. And just when I wanted to stop reading, I got to read some more. Now I have no problem with reading in general, and actually enjoy it from time to time, when the novel is INTERESTING! But this ended up being an incredible WASTE. OF. TIME. Seriously, when will I ever use this again in my lifetime. I fail to see how this is going to help in the future.
So anyway, I ended up being up until 2:15 am reading a horrible novel last night, and then was awoken at 6:30 by the lovely birds outside my open window. Now one night of minimal sleep isn't so bad, and I'm in high school, I can handle that. But the fact of the matter is, I haven't gotten much sleep any night this week! Whoever said that you can coast through Senior year was a BIG. FAT. LIAR!

Okay, that should enough ranting to hold me over for at least a few days! Hope you all are having a great time and are well rested, unlike myself!

Well, I just thought I would let everyone know that I survived my senior paper!
Thursday night ended up being a very long night, but I did it. And boy did the caffeine help. After work I went straight to Mellelo's and got a 16 oz. and then at about 11:00 Cindi and I made a pot of coffee and I had two rather large cups of that. In the end, I pulled an all nighter, and finished at 6:00 in the morning. I then attempted to sleep for 45 minutes or so-but my mind was still running a mile a minute. Then I printed out my paper, went to school and turned the dreaded thing in! After turning it in, I went straight home and to bed where I got to sleep for two whole hours! But alas, my day was not complete. I then had to get up and go to work! My boss informed me that I looked extremely tired and let me leave work early to go home and go to bed. Which I didn't end up doing because Friday night was ordinance. After ordinance, against my better judgement-which would be to sleep-I went to see 'Firewall'. Which ended up being really good, except Zach and I were both so tired that we both had a little trouble staying awake. But it was still really nice to get out and relax.
Ok, I think I have done enough rambling to call this a post.

As, I write this, I am listening to one of the most awesome groups of all time....Rascal Flatts. If you hate country, all I have to say is BAH....with that said, I have to say that their cd 'Melt' is absolutely fabulous. "Fallin Upside Down" is the BEST. Love the lyrics...and I know there's at least one other person who loves it too!!!

*sigh* I absolutely LOVE Friday's, needless to say, work today felt like it was about 7 or 8 hours long, and I wasn't even there for more than two and a half hours, I know, pathetic. At the moment, I am on caffeine, so to warn you, my mind is jumping from one place to another at a mile a minute!

And now I will take this moment to rant about my mean Family Health teacher. So, we got 'married' on Wednesday. That's not the bad part. Our marriage paper is due 2 days before our senior papers. Coincidence? I think not. Personally, I think all of the teachers are planning a conspiracy against the seniors to get them to fail and stay another year...LOL, ok, not really, but sometimes it definately feels like it.

Well, right now I should be doing horrible, horrible tutorials, but I have found that I cannot concentrate. So, this weekend, I will have the lovely job of finishing said tutorials, because I promised my boss I would be done with them by Monday. *Sigh*
As for life, it is hectic as usual. Between school, work, and everything in between, I rarely have time to sit back and do nothing (unless I make time even though I have none-like right now.) I recently got back the first four pages of my senior paper (four more pages to go) and was thoroughly excited because I got an A on it (which is absolutely fabulous since I wrote the whole thing in one night). However, now that I have it back, I have no excuses to not work on it. I still have TONS of research to do for it. And as for the project that goes along with it, being the procrastinator that you all know and love, I haven't even started it. Which could be a bad thing since we have to have in a certain amount of hours (35 to be exact) and I only have about 30 minutes logged. Hmmm, maybe I should get going on that. Not counting my AP Lit class, I have homework in every stinking class (the teachers should really pity us seniors-as if we don't already have enough going on). Especially my AP United States History class. I have recently come to the decision that that class, if any, will be the class to kill me. I can't remember if I've posted about this before, (and if I have, oops) but my teacher got behind on the material (very, very behind) and so now, he's speeding through everything to try to make up for lost time. All we do is take notes every class and then for homework, we read, and read, and read the longest 'brief' edition textbook I have ever seen. After we read, then we get to do the tedious homework!
As I look back on my post, I realize that it was just a bunch of ranting on my part, but give me a break, I'm feeling just a little overwhelmed at the moment.

Ah, life can be so hectic, but I am SO excited because I finished writing the first four pages of my senior paper before 11:00 PM the night before it was due. In case you were wondering, this was a HUGE accomplishment since I didnt start writing it unil the night before it was due (procrastination is the only way to survive the honors system in high school...and in college from what I've been told). Oh and while you're feeling excited for me, you can feel bad too, because now that I'm done with that, I still have at least 4 more pages to go. While the 'whole enchilada' isn't due until March 17, I have a feeling that I'll put everything off until the 16th rolls around (because that's just how I do things) :)
On another note, I would really appreciate prayer because I am still sick despite using my 'fool-proof plan' (gallons and gallons of water and overdosage on vitamin c) I've been sick for over a week. All I have to say is "I've had it!"
As for everything else going on, Graduation is looming in the near future and I just want to snatch it up and forget the next four months! Personally senioritis kicked in about the time that we were done with our junior year.

So, first off, I'm soooo sorry for not posting for over a month....all I can say is that I've been sooo busy. Since school got back in session, we've been working like madmen trying to get senior stuff done. Anyway, there are a few new things going on for me and I thought you'd like to know.

To head things off, a couple of days after my last blog, I decided to put in my 2 weeks notice at my job. God has been talking to me for awhile about how I needed to leave for multiple reasons, and I just knew it was what I was supposed to do. So I put my faith in Him, and He didn't disappoint. Here I am less than 2 weeks after my old job ended, and alas, I have a new job!
For those who didn't know, some of the main reasons I left my previous job was because it wasn't enough pay, or enough hours. My new job, at Morgan Stanley, is 15-20 hours a week, as compared to my old job which was STRICTLY 10 hours a week, and it is ABOVE minimum wage. So, last week I started the training for my new job, which I have to say, is quite extensive, but at least I get to do it in the comfort of my own home, which is a plus.

Earlier I mentioned the dreaded Senior Project. I have FINALLY decided what I am doing it on, and I am actually excited. I have decided to do my paper on learning styles, and for my project, I plan on going into an elementary school classroom, and helping out. Which is a great project for me, since I love kids!

Also, Wednesday mornings, I have been attending a Bible study and it's absolutely fabuloso! It's a great way to start off my day, and I'm soooo glad that this got started up!

Well, I think that's enough updating for now, and hopefully it won't be another month until I post again.

Random statement: I really do hate Valentine's Day.

School is officially back in session for me and it STINKS! All I can say is, 6 monthes till graduation, and then I can have a nice little break! Not only did my Lit teacher hit the ground running with Senior paper/project stuff, but I hardly got ANY sleep last night due to the fact that I had grown accustommed to staying up late and sleeping in over the break, and then I had to get up at 6:30 to get ready for a horrible thing I don't like to call SCHOOL!

While today was a pretty long day, I have to say, it did end pretty well. I finally found this CD I've been trying to find for ages at Evangel and it was super exciting. If you don't know who Paul Colman is, you should check him out! He's awesome! Especially the song "The One Thing", that's the BEST one!
